The genesis for Viewfinder was a nostalgia for the film photography I used to shoot when I was in high school, and the lament I felt when I realized how inaccessible film photography has become in the age of smartphones. What if a service existed to keep film photography alive, and do the easy work for us?

VIEWFINDER

SUBSCRIPTION BOX

Subscription box services are all the rage these days, delivering unique items and experiences right to a customer’s front door. Viewfinder’s niche is film photography- Subscribers get a restored vintage film camera, and for a monthly fee Viewfinder supplies film refills, development services, and any accessories and attachments the customer may desire. Viewfinder’s design principles are influenced by the physicality of film photography, with vintage-inspired typography and a plethora of gadgets and gizmos. The service is also shipped not in a simple cardboard box, but a robust wooden crate.

The Viewfinder Box includes whatever a customer may need to start their photography journey- this example includes two camera bodies, two lenses, three rolls of film, and a welcome card.

Take a look at the branding guidelines below to get a feel for the spirit of the project.
